The best months of the year for Rome’s holidays are April, May and the end of September and October. The intolerable heat of midnight and the mobs around the city can spoil the holiday experience.
Arriving in Rome
Rome’s airports are Fiumicino and Ciampino. You can read more about Rome’s airports here . Low cost airlines fly to both airports, so make sure you check-in at each of the airports. From Fiumicino you can reach Rome’s biggest railway station Termini by train, and the ticket is not very expensive, only about 10 euros. From both the fields you can reach the center by bus. It is somewhat cheaper than a train, but travel time is a little longer.
If you have a lot of luggage or you are traveling more than one, you can take a taxi to be a better option. You can take a taxi from the airport or ask your hotel to arrange a taxi to the airport. Taxi will probably cost 40-50 euros, but on the other hand, stress removal may well be worth it.

The official taxis are painted white in Rome and have a flat fee. At the start of the trip, the meter must be at zero. For taxi trips, the city is divided into two payment zones.
