Prabalgad Fort
Located at a distance of approximately 200 km from Mumbai, the fort is located near Matheran and Panvel in Maharashtra. Lies at a height of 2300 feet in the Western Ghats, this is one of the tiny but very beautiful forts in Maharashtra and is one of the amazing trekking places near Mumbai. The fort was built on a plateau during Bahmani Sultanate, later during the rule of Shivaji, the fort was captured from Mughals by the Marathas and now it is a beautiful trekking spot. He trekking starts from the base of a hill, the trek is quite moderate and offers a lot of picturesque landscape to the nature lovers.
Lohagad Fort
During the reign of Shivaji, this hill fort was extensively used by the Maratha army. The best time to visit the fort is in the monsoon, during this time the fort is seen covered with clouds and greenery and becomes wet with growing moss. The place is located at a distance of 95 km from Mumbai and the trekking to this beautiful requires only one single day. The route to the fort is totally raw and sometimes gets slippery during monsoon.
Rajmachi Trek
The breathtaking view of this place makes it one of the best and beautiful spots for trekking near Mumbai. The peak is home to two fortified structures Manaranjan Fort and the Shrivardhan fort, among one of the best treks. The place lies near to both Mumbai and Pune and requires a day’s time to explore the beauty of this place.
Mahuli Fort trek
This is one of the forts which is quite mysterious, no one knows who has built the fort. Located in the Sahyadri range, the fort is located on the western face. This is among one of the majestic trekking locations. At a distance of 92 km from Mumbai, an excursion to this trek does not require a week’s time just a day or two is enough to fully explore the place.
